Seoul Bishops Launch First Click of Courage WYD Video

Church leaders in Seoul have joined young pilgrims in a new registration-themed video for World Youth Day (WYD) 2027. Released on 26 October by the local organizing committee, The First Click of Courage presents registration as a first practical step toward the international gathering.

Bishops lead by example

The official WYD Seoul website says Archbishop Peter Soon-taick Chung and Bishops Job Yo-Bi Koo and Paul Kyung-Sang Lee appear registering for the event. Young people from different backgrounds follow, reflecting the international character of World Youth Day. Organizers say filming took place at Myeongdong Cathedral and nearby locations.

Registration is already open

The pilgrim registration system opened on 22 October. On the same day, Pope Leo XIV issued a video invitation encouraging young people to come to Seoul for a pilgrimage of faith, friendship and hope. The 2027 event is scheduled for 3–8 August and takes as its theme Jesus’ words in John 16:33: ‘Take courage! I have overcome the world.’

Where to get official information

Pilgrims and group leaders should consult the registration information and frequently asked questions at the official WYD Seoul 2027 website. The 26 October video is a new campaign update, distinct from the original opening of registration four days earlier.
