Pope Leo Announces Five Rome Parish Visits for Advent

Pope Leo XIV is scheduled to visit five parish communities in Rome during Advent, from 27 November to 20 December 2026. The Vicariate of Rome announced the programme on 28 October, with one parish visit planned for each of the diocese’s five pastoral sectors.

Advent parish visit schedule

  • 27 November: Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, central sector, on the Feast of the Miraculous Medal.
  • 29 November: San Carlo da Sezze, southern sector.
  • 6 December: Sant’Eligio, eastern sector.
  • 13 December: Santa Lucia, western sector, on its patronal feast.
  • 20 December: San Roberto Bellarmino, northern sector.

Meeting communities before Mass

According to Vatican News, each afternoon visit will include a welcome from Cardinal Vicar Baldo Reina and the local parish priest, meetings with parish councils and other groups, and a celebration of Mass. The visits follow a similar pastoral initiative during Lent.

The programme is an opportunity for Rome’s parish communities, including young people and families, to meet the Pope in their local churches. The announcement gives dates and locations but does not establish public registration arrangements or precise Mass times; anyone wishing to attend should follow updates from the Diocese of Rome and the individual parishes.
