Leiria-Fátima Opens Registration for Diocesan Youth Day

Registration is open for the Diocese of Leiria-Fátima’s celebration of diocesan World Youth Day, scheduled for November 21 in Santa Eufémia, Portugal. The event will bring young Catholics together for an afternoon of music, activities, encounters and prayer, according to the diocese’s October 27 announcement.

Programme for November 21

The diocesan youth ministry service, working with the Colmeias vicariate, has scheduled welcome activities from 2:30 p.m. A musical presentation follows, with the “City of Joy” beginning at 3:30 p.m. to introduce young people to diocesan services, movements, associations and Catholic communities.

Participants will also be able to take part in an escape-room activity designed around collaboration and problem-solving. The gathering concludes at 6:30 p.m. with Mass presided over by Bishop José Ornelas.

A World Youth Day cross handover

During the Eucharistic celebration, a replica of the World Youth Day Cross will be handed to the vicariate hosting it during the 2026–2027 pastoral year. The ritual links the local gathering to the wider Church’s youth pilgrimage tradition.

Who can register?

The diocese says the invitation is open to young people from the tenth year of catechesis onward. Registration information and the form are available through the diocesan youth ministry website. Participants should consult the organisers for any practical updates before travelling.
