Young adults preparing for World Youth Day (WYD) Seoul 2027 will have the opportunity to take part in MAGIS 2027, an international Jesuit gathering scheduled for 25 July to 2 August 2027 at Sogang University in South Korea.
According to an announcement published by the Society of Jesus on 9 September 2026, organisers expect around 1,000 young participants aged 18–30, representing approximately 70 countries. The gathering will take place before the main World Youth Day celebrations in Seoul.
A Jesuit path toward World Youth Day
MAGIS is part of the Jesuit tradition of accompanying young people through faith, reflection and community. The Korea Province of the Society of Jesus and Sogang University are preparing the 2027 event as an international gathering connected with the pilgrimage to WYD.
The organisers marked the one-year countdown in July 2026 when the World Youth Day Cross and Marian Icon visited the Sogang University campus from 25 to 27 July. The September update described preparations entering their final year.
What prospective participants should know
The announced dates and venue allow interested pilgrims and youth leaders to begin considering how MAGIS could fit into a longer journey to South Korea. The international event is intended for young adults aged 18–30; prospective participants should seek current application, travel and participation details through official Jesuit channels rather than assuming that registration is open or that places are guaranteed.
MAGIS 2027 is a separate preparatory gathering and should not be confused with registration for the main World Youth Day events.
