Catholic Scouts and Guides around the world have been invited to prepare for World Youth Day (WYD) Seoul 2027, with international Scout and Guide organisations outlining plans for activities focused on peace, cultural exchange and pilgrimage.

In an announcement dated 18 October 2026, the International Catholic Conference of Scouting (ICCS) and its Guide counterpart encouraged members to join WYD through their parish, diocese, episcopal conference or another officially recognised pilgrim group.

Peace, culture and a pilgrim walk

Working with Korea Catholic Scouts, the organisations are developing a Youth Peace Forum, a Global Catholic Scout and Guide Gathering, participation in a Catholic Culture Expo and an urban pilgrimage or hike connecting significant Christian sites in Seoul.

These proposals are still being prepared; their precise schedules, registration arrangements and final formats should not be treated as confirmed until the organisers publish further details.

How groups can prepare

WYD Seoul 2027 is scheduled for 3–8 August 2027, following the Days in the Dioceses. Scout and Guide units considering participation can begin by coordinating with their local Catholic youth ministry and established WYD delegation, while monitoring official announcements for the specific Scout and Guide programme.

The initiative reflects how organised youth movements can contribute their own traditions of service, dialogue and outdoor learning to the wider World Youth Day experience.
