A free concert series in Lisbon is inviting audiences to discover Franciscan spirituality through music. The next performance in the Ciclo Áureo programme, entitled “Sister Water,” is scheduled for October 29 at 12:40 p.m. at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima.
According to a programme announcement reported by Agência ECCLESIA on October 27, the series is organised by Égide – Associação Portuguesa das Artes and commemorates the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi.
Music inspired by the Canticle of the Creatures
The October 29 recital features countertenor António Lourenço Menezes and theorbo player Vicente Morgado. Curated by conductor Nuno Miguel de Almeida, the series takes its inspiration from the Canticle of the Creatures, exploring creation through music, reflection and silence.
Upcoming Lisbon recitals
The programme continues on November 5 with “Brother Fire,” November 12 with “Sister Mother Earth,” November 19 with “Sister Bodily Death,” and a closing concert, “Peace and Good,” on December 6. The November concerts begin at 12:40 p.m.; the December finale is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The concerts offer an opportunity for young people, pilgrims and local communities to encounter St. Francis’ spirituality in an accessible cultural setting. Entry is free, according to the organisers’ announcement.
