WYD Seoul 2027 Launches Official Pilgrim App: Features, Languages and Travel Tips

A Digital Companion for World Youth Day 2027

Young Catholics planning to travel to South Korea for World Youth Day 2027 now have access to a dedicated digital resource designed to support their preparations.

The event’s local organizing committee has released an official pilgrim application that brings together spiritual materials, information about Korean culture and practical guidance for international visitors.

The app, provisionally named WYD 2027, was announced in October and is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Which Languages Are Available?

The initial release supports Korean and English.

Organizers have announced plans to introduce additional language options, including Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian.

An international naming competition will determine the application’s permanent name.

Much of its content can be accessed without creating an account, making it useful for pilgrims who are still considering participating in the event.

Practical Advice for Visiting South Korea

The application includes guidance on preparing for the Korean summer, when temperatures, humidity and sudden rainfall can affect outdoor activities.

It also provides information about electrical connections, luggage preparation, emergency procedures and local regulations.

Visitors can learn about everyday practices, including recycling, pedestrian safety and public behavior.

These resources are particularly valuable for young people making their first international pilgrimage or visiting Asia for the first time.

Discover Seoul’s Catholic Heritage

Beyond travel logistics, the application introduces important sites connected with Korean Catholic history.

One of its features allows pilgrims to document visits to three locations:

서울 여행: 명동성당

Myeongdong Cathedral

The Archdiocese of Seoul History Museum introduces visitors to the development of Catholicism in the Korean capital.

西小门圣地历史博物馆_韩国景点推荐_韩国旅游网-韩巢

Seosomun Shrine History Museum

A museum and pilgrimage destination commemorating Korean Catholics who suffered persecution.

Jeoldusan Martyrs' Shrine (절두산순교성지)- VISITKOREA

Korean Martyrs Museum at Jeoldusan Shrine

A site dedicated to preserving the memory of Korean martyrs and their contribution to the country’s Christian heritage.

Participants who verify visits to all three designated sites through the app can receive a pilgrimage completion certificate.

This feature requires registration or login.

Maps and Useful Korean Expressions

The app also provides a map-based guide to religious sites, museums and other relevant destinations.

At its launch, information on 24 locations was available.

A language section introduces Korean expressions for greetings, asking directions, expressing gratitude and participating in church activities.

Organizers intend to expand the application as World Youth Day approaches, including services connected to the pilgrim card.

Start Preparing Before Departure

With World Youth Day Seoul scheduled for August 3–8, 2027, the official application gives future participants a practical starting point.

Pilgrims can explore destinations, become familiar with Korean customs and begin preparing spiritually even before confirming their journey.

The new resource illustrates how digital tools are becoming part of the international pilgrimage experience while supporting the central purpose of World Youth Day: encounter, faith and community.
