Pope Leo XIV Confirms November Visit to Three Latin American Countries

The Holy See confirmed on 26 October that Pope Leo XIV intends to travel to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru from 6 to 17 November 2026, maintaining the previously announced itinerary after his recent surgery.

Three countries on the itinerary

According to a statement reported by Vatican News, the apostolic journey is intended to strengthen ties with local Churches and encourage their mission, while conveying a message of faith, hope and peace. The Pope said he looks forward to returning to a continent that has played an important part in his life.

Medical team supports the journey

The confirmation follows surgery on 13 October. The Holy See said subsequent examinations were favourable, that the condition treated was localized and that no additional oncological treatment was necessary. Vatican physician Dr Luigi Carbone said current clinical assessments presented no contraindication to the journey as planned. The Pope has been gradually resuming activities while following medical recommendations.

What pilgrims should know

Communities in Uruguay, Argentina and Peru can now look ahead to the scheduled papal visit, although travel and event arrangements should be checked against official local and Holy See announcements as the dates approach. The announcement is a confirmation of the trip, not the release of a new detailed programme.
