Preparing for World Youth Day Seoul 2027 can begin long before a flight is booked. The official organisers invite young pilgrims and youth groups to read, reflect on and discuss Christus Vivit, Pope Francis’ 2019 apostolic exhortation to young people and the entire People of God, using a dedicated workbook.
The resource is available through the official WYD Seoul 2027 website in Korean, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. According to the organisers’ FAQ, it is structured for nine group encounters, making it suitable for parishes, schools, movements and other youth communities preparing for the gathering.
Start a small preparation group
Choose a regular meeting time, invite a few young people and download the workbook in a language everyone understands. Begin each session with prayer, read the assigned material, allow time for personal reflection and create space for respectful conversation. These are practical suggestions for using the resource, rather than a compulsory schedule announced by WYD organisers.
Make preparation more than logistics
Christus Vivit grew out of the 2018 Synod on Young People and was published on 25 March 2019. Its emphasis on faith, discernment and young people’s place in the Church provides a framework for preparing for WYD as a spiritual journey, not only a major international event.
Vatican News has also linked the document to the wider international conversation about pastoral leadership and accompaniment on the road to Seoul. Groups can combine their workbook meetings with concrete service, local prayer initiatives and opportunities to discover Korean Catholic history.
